SEX OFFENDER NOTIFICATIION POLICY
POLICY
The GateWay College Safety Department will maintain information regarding the identity of registered sex offenders within its jurisdiction and comply with state law A.R.S. 13-3826 by making community notifications regarding their presence on campus.
PROCEDURE
Upon information received via the Arizona State Department of Public Safety that a registered sex offender is a student, student worker, employee,or person whose presence will be on GateWay CC campus, GateWay Community College Campus Safety will determine what risk level the Community Surveillance Office has assigned the sex offender. College Safety will make notifications to the VP of Student Affairs, the VP of Administration, and any other administrator deemed appropriate with information regarding the offender. In addition a link to the NOTICE TO EDUCATIIONAL FACILITY will be provided on the College Safety website that will document past history and provide further information in regards to the offender.

Community Notification Guidelines
The local law enforcement agency that is responsible for notification shall maintain information about the offender. The local law enforcement agency may disseminate this information to other law enforcement agencies and may give notification to the people with whom the offender resides.
Notification may be made to the immediate neighbors, schools, appropriate community groups and prospective employers. The notification may include a flyer with a photograph and address or the general area where the offender will be residing as well as a brief general summary of the offender’s status and criminal background.
The notification shall be made to the surrounding neighborhood, area schools, appropriate community groups and prospective employers. A press release and a level three flyer shall be given to the local electronic and print media to enable information to be placed in a local publication.
The Vice President of Student Affairs Shall:
1. Provide the RSO information to the Registrar and a special code will be placed on the student screen.
2. Insure no students under the age of 18 are registered or attending a class a RSO is registering for.
3. Complete letter to the RSO documenting specific requirements and restrictions while attending Gateway Community College.
4. As appropriate with the Vice President or designee, be responsible for providing direction for notification of the RSO instructors.
The Director of Campus Safety Shall:
1. Authorize the RSO name to be placed on the College Safety website and linked to the Arizona Department of Public Safety sex offender website.
2. Maintain communication with other law enforcement departments and parole and probation departments in regards to the RSO.
3. Take immediate action if a law or policy has been violated by an RSO.
4. Be responsible to insure notification procedures are in accordance with federal and state laws and meet the Department of Education requirements.
5. Responsible to revise GateWay Community College RSO procedures and maintain current protocol on the website.
